The Merchant City and Trongate Community Council is a residents’ forum and pressure group for the Merchant City & Trongate area of Glasgow.
We are consulted officially by Glasgow City Council and our authorised role is to seek and represent the opinions of local people and businesses on planning and licensing applications, and to express the wider views of our entire neighbourhood on issues affecting our environment.
We work hard to make the neighbourhood better for all residents.
We meet on the last Tuesday of each month from 7-9pm in Glasgow City Chambers. All Merchant City and Trongate residents are welcome to attend.

Did you know . . .
The area now known as 'Merchant City' was developed from the 1750s onwards.
Residences and warehouses of the wealthy merchant "tobacco lords" (who prospered in shipping and, amongst other things, tobacco, sugar and tea) were built in the area.
